Description
Grove Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building located at Oxen End in Little Bardfield. Originally a barn, it dates back to around 1600 and is a rebuild of a late 15th-century structure. The building has been converted into a dwelling in the 20th century. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, with a half-hipped dark red tiled roof that extends over the aisles. A red brick chimney stack is present, and the building is one storey with attics, including one gabled dormer. The façade has a range of four 20th-century vari-light casements with central transoms. There are vertically boarded doors on the right and left, with the right door set in a plastered surround. The barn is aisled and consists of three bays, with all but two of the storey posts being jowled. The top plates are halved and bladed, and the aisle plates are halved and bridled. Most of the aisle and arched bracing remains in place.
