Description

Gladwyns is a house dating from the early 19th century, constructed of grey gault bricks with a stone cornice and string band. It features slate roofs behind parapets and has three storeys with a squarish double pile plan. The south front includes a prominent block with five attic double hung sash windows, some of which have small panes and shutters. Both the ground and first floors have five conventionally proportioned double hung sash windows with small panes. At the west end, there is a narrow recessed bay with similar windows on the first and second storeys, along with a projecting flat-topped Doric portico made of stucco. This portico has a cornice, entablature, and a pair of columns 'in antis' between outer square piers. To the west, there is a range of service rooms featuring a gabled slated roof and gault brickwork.
