Description
Great Easton Hall is a house dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior. The building has two storeys, with a single-storey range to the east and a two-storey rear wing. The main block features a gabled peg tile roof, while the rear wing and the single-storey block have hipped exposed ends. There are two diagonal shafted red brick stacks, both of which have been rebuilt. The front of the house includes a 19th-century gabled porch with decorative bargeboards, and the west end gable along with a dormer in the single-storey block also display similar bargeboards. The windows consist of a mix of some old casements and 19th-century casements with glazing bars set in moulded surrounds. The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (RCHM) notes that the interior retains remains of crown post roofs and a late medieval doorhead. The site is a moated area with a Mound and Bailey castle.
