Description

The Garth is an early 20th-century house, formerly a convent, built of rendered brick with peg tile roofs. It is a long, two-story range running parallel to the street, with a one-story, attic 'cross-wing' at the western end. The front facade features a large, semi-circular bay containing a spiral staircase, topped with a parapet and a continuous band of upper-story windows. A flat, moulded door hood is present, along with three elaborate brick stacks featuring angled shafts and cresting. The windows are contemporary iron casements with leaded lights and elaborate latch back plates. A single-story, gabled peg tile extension is located at the eastern end.
