Description

The barn, located 30 metres north west of the New Farmhouse, dates to the early 16th century. It is a timber-framed structure with black weatherboard cladding above a red brick plinth. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, featuring an off-centre eyebrow headed waggon opening on the south face. The barn comprises four bays and has aisles on both sides, displaying fine jowled posts and arch braces. It incorporates a simple crown post roof with single down braces. Aisle posts and ties are jowled, and a rising aisle brace passes the aisle ties. Scarf joints on the top plate are halved and bridled. The barn was moved from Clare, Suffolk.
