Description

No. 44 on Lower Street is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered building that was originally three tenements. The ground floor was refronted in the 19th century with red brick and the building underwent renovations in the 20th century. It features a long frontage on the west side with a central gable and double gables at the south end. The upper storey jetties out on the south and west fronts. The building has two storeys, with a three-window range on the west front and a two-window range on the south end, featuring iron casements with glazing bars. The roof is tiled and includes a 19th-century central chimney stack. Inside, some of the timber framing is exposed.
