Description
The Star Inn is a late 14th century hall house with cross-wings, which has been extensively altered in the 16th, 18th, and 20th centuries. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile hipped roof. The building has two storeys and cellars, featuring a four-window range of 18th century double hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars. The doors are adorned with flat canopies supported by pilasters. The original cross-wing gables were oversailed in the 18th century, and the jetties were underbuilt. The first floor was inserted, and the hall was partially rebuilt in the 16th century. There is a wide arched opening between the north cross-wing and the hall, and a modern red brick chimney stack has been added.
