Description
Goddards Electrical is a former row of houses now serving as a shop, dating from the late 16th century. The building is timber-framed and rendered, featuring 20th-century pargetted panels. It has a gabled slate roof with a chimney on the south gable end and stands two storeys tall, though the roof is asymmetrical at the south end, extending over part of the attic.
The front elevation includes six double-hung sash windows on the first floor, each with moulded surrounds; three of these have six panes and three have nine panes. The ground floor features three 20th-century plate glass shopfronts, each with a recessed entrance, along with one 12-paned double-hung sash window. At the rear, there is a lean-to roof of slate on the southern part, which is made of red Flemish bond brickwork with blue headers and a mix of windows. A 20th-century extension is located at the rear of the northern end. The building retains elements of its late 16th-century origins, including some jowled posts and curved windbracing that are exposed on the upper floor.
