Description

The entrance arch located north of Numbers 56, 58, and 60 on High Street in Saffron Walden is an early 19th-century structure made of stucco. It features an archway on the street front that provides access to a passage leading to buildings at the back. The arch is supported by plain piers and has a segmental arch adorned with vermiculated rusticated voussoirs. Above the arch, there is an attic section decorated with honeysuckle motifs on either side of a central panel. The entrance is accessed by three granite steps, which include a cast-iron bootscraper.
