Description
Ropers is a shop built in the early 19th century, featuring a timber frame and plastered exterior with 20th-century pargetting. The building has two storeys and a slate gabled roof with two square stacks along the ridge line. On the first floor, there are four double-hung sash windows that have moulded surrounds and margin glazing bars. The ground floor includes two early 19th-century doorcases, each with flat hoods, reeded architraves, and frieze panels that contain three diamond-shaped inserts. Additionally, there is a small plain glass window. The shopfront is slightly bowed and contemporary, showcasing small panes, strip pilasters, and scroll brackets that support a moulded cornice or canopy. Old shutter rails run across the front, and beneath the shopfront, there is a plastered panel displaying 'Family Roper Chemist' in raised sans serif lettering.
