Description

The barn at Chickney Hall is a mid-14th century structure that features an aisled design. It is constructed from timber framing and is weatherboarded, topped with a hipped roof made of red plain tiles. The barn is five bays long and includes a 17th-century half hipped midstrey. Notable architectural elements include arch braced tie beams, jowled arcade posts, and splayed and bridled arcade plate scarfs. There are passing braces and a reversed assembly at the eaves, along with jowled aisle ties. The original crown post roof was rebuilt as a side purlin in the early 17th century.
