Description

This barn, located 50 metres southwest of Little Canfield Hall, dates to the late 14th century and is a timber-framed structure. It is plastered and weatherboarded, with a red plain tile roof. The barn is aisled and spans five generous bays, featuring a gabled midstrey (central bay) facing east. The eaves display a reversed assembly. Aisle ties are unusually deep, extending noticeably beyond the arcade posts. Inside, the structure showcases arch-braced arcade plates and tie beams, as well as a roof supported by two armed crown posts. The joints incorporate halved and bridled scarfs secured with four face pegs.
