Description

Swaynes Hall is a timber-framed and plastered house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with the remains of a moat. It is two storeys and has attics. The east front has five casement windows. On the north part of the front, a series of original pargetted panels depict conventional flowers, fleur de lys, and lions. Above the doorway is a date panel bearing the initials 'S.T.' and the date 1689, with the figure '82' beneath. The roof is tiled, featuring a large central chimney stack with six square grouped shafts and four gabled dormers on the east front. Two gabled wings project from the west side, with modern additions built between them. Inside, an original open fireplace is located on the ground storey.
