Description

The Church of St Mary the Virgin is a Grade II* listed building located in Widdington on Church Street. This church has flint and stone rubble construction and dates back to the 12th century, although it underwent significant restoration in 1871-72, during which the west tower was rebuilt.

Notable architectural features include an early 12th-century window in the north wall of the chancel, and the south wall displays the surround of a 13th-century window, which features shafts with foliated capitals and intricate dogtooth ornamentation. The south door dates from the 15th century, and the chancel also contains a late 13th-century piscina. The church is recognized for its historical significance and its internal features.
