Description

This is a late 16th-century house located on High Easter Road, High Easter. Originally a small open hall, the building is timber-framed and has a thatched half-hipped roof. It features 20th-century pargetting (decorative plasterwork) on the timbering. A single-storey thatched lean-to extension is set on the front (west) side, alongside a gabled open porch. A two-storey extension, also with a half-hipped thatched roof, was added in the 20th century to the north end. A small chimney stack is positioned behind the ridgeline, and there are two eyebrow dormers in the front roof slope. The windows are 20th-century diamond-leaded light casements. The timber frame is well-made but has been altered, with distinctive curved internal wall bracing at each corner. The hall now has a floor with stop-chamfered floor joists, likely inserted later. A contemporary door, complete with ornamental hinges, survives inside.
