Description

Gower House is a house, dating to the 17th century, altered in the 19th century. It is now used as two shops and a house. The building is timber-framed, with weatherboarding and plaster, and has a roof of handmade red clay tiles. It has three bays facing southwest, featuring a central stack and rear extensions. The house has two storeys. The ground floor has two early 19th-century bow shopfronts, both altered with late 19th-century sash windows. The first floor has two late 19th-century sash windows. The entrances consist of two half-glazed doors and one plain boarded door. There is a dentilled and moulded eaves cornice. The chimney is truncated just above the roof. It has old cast iron guttering fixed to wrought iron brackets. Inside, there are chamfered axial and transverse beams.
