Description

A row of four cottages, now converted into two dwellings, dating to around 1500, with later alterations and rear extensions. The cottages are timber-framed and have a rough render finish. They have red plain tiled roofs and two red brick chimney stacks. The two-storey facade has a four-window arrangement of small-paned vertically sliding sash windows. There are two end and two central doors; the doors to numbers 1 and 2 are vertically boarded, while those to numbers 3 and 4 have top lights, with pentice boards covering the ground floor windows and doors. Internally, parts of the original heavy timber frame are visible, including stop-chamfered bridging joists and top plates. A tie beam features arched bracing, and the halved and bridled top plate scarf is also visible.
