Description
The bakehouse and wash-house, located 5 meters west of Beaumont Rectory, dates from around 1800. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a slate roof. The building is rectangular and faces east, featuring a single storey. There are two original doors with flat brick arches set in recessed semi-circular arches made of gauged brick. Additionally, there are two similar recessed arches; one contains an altered window, while the other is blocked by a late 19th-century lean-to. The hipped roof has a shallow pitch and long overhanging eaves. On the right side, there is another recessed arch that holds a three-light casement window. At the rear, there is a large bread oven with its own chimney inside the building, along with a later washboiler. Inside the bakehouse, there is an original solid wooden pump with an octagonal wooden spout, a twisted wrought-iron stay, and an iron handle, which is a rare feature, along with a stone sink.
