Description

The White House is a house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, located on the south side of Harwich Road in Beaumont-cum-Moze. It features red brick in Flemish bond, with some areas plastered, and is topped with handmade red clay tiles and slates. The main part of the house is a 3-bay range aligned east-west, consisting of one storey with attics and a gambrel roof. To the north, there is an early 19th-century entrance range that is two storeys tall. The house has 19th-century extensions at the rear right.

There is an external stack at the right end and two internal stacks. The front elevation has a three-window range of early 19th-century sashes with 12 lights, made of crown glass, and features moulded architraves on the ground floor. At the left end of the front, there is one blind aperture on each floor. The entrance features off-centre double doors, each with two panels and an overlight with marginal lights, sheltered by a Greek Doric portico that has a fluted and dentilled soffit. The entrance range is plastered and designed to imitate stone blocks, with a parapet that has a moulded cornice and a hipped roof.

On the right return, there is one similar sash window on the ground floor. The left return includes a two-storey splayed bay with one similar sash and two blind apertures on each floor. The entrance range retains its original folding shutters and features a staircase with stick balusters.
