Description
Foxes Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1600, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The house has three bays facing southeast and features a 17th-century external stack at the right end, which is enclosed by a two-storey extension built around 1970. There is a 19th or 20th-century external stack at the left end, with a 20th-century single-storey lean-to extension beyond it, as well as a single-storey extension at the rear. The building stands two storeys high and has a four-window range of 20th-century casements, along with a 20th-century door. The frame is pegged and jointed hardwood, mostly hidden by paper. Inside, there is one chamfered binding beam with lamb's tongue stops, and the joists have been renewed in the 20th century. The posts have half-height jowls and mortices for arched braces to tiebeams. The roof was reported to have been thatched in the past but has been tiled since 1970.
