Description

These are two early 19th-century houses on Eastgate Street, Harwich. They are built of brick with a rendered front, and have a gambrel roof covered in Welsh slate. The houses are two storeys with attics and a cellar. The front elevation has three dormers with double-hung sash windows in the lower slope of the gambrel roof. The first floor has three flush double-hung sash windows with single vertical glazing bars, and a segmental arch over the upper sash. The ground floor has three slightly recessed double-hung sash windows with similar glazing, and two 20th-century entrance doors, one with a rectangular fanlight. There are two rendered stacks, one near the southern gable and one near the northern gable end. It is believed these houses were originally three storeys. The interior of number 11 features a winder staircase with column newels and stick balusters.
