Description
The Dutch Cottage is a cottage dated 1621, as indicated on the lintel. It features an octagonal timber frame with plaster and a brick plinth. The cottage has a circular thatched roof and a circular red brick chimney stack. It is one storey high with attics and includes a gabled rear dormer. Access is via two steps leading to a vertically boarded door, which has a simple pediment above it. The date "AD1621" is inscribed on the lintel. There is a similar door to the left, and on both the right and left sides, there are small paned casement windows with pentice boards above. The building bears resemblance to those found on Canvey Island.
