Description

This is an early 19th-century house, later used as offices, located on High Street in Maldon. The front of the building is rendered brick, while the rear features timber framing and a plain tile roof. It is connected to number 105. The exterior has two storeys and a three-window front, with two gabled extensions at the rear. A plain parapet sits above a string band marking the first-floor window level. The first-floor windows are sash windows with segmental heads; the central window has 12 panes, and the outer windows each have 16. The ground floor features a 20th-century shop front with signage on a perspex fascia above a combined entrance door. The early 19th-century doors have thin pilasters and broader pilasters framing a plate-glass shop window. Inside the recessed doorway are moulded panelled reveals and a horizontal fanlight. Two stone steps lead to the entrance, with a wrought-iron handrail and boot scraper. A 20th-century plate-glass window is set into an older sash-window opening on the western part of the facade, with segmental glazing and upper glass louvres. The rear elevation has two projecting rendered gables constructed of late timber framing; the eastern gable includes a 16-pane sash window on the first floor. A flat-roofed extension is present in the rear garden. The interior has not been inspected.
