Description

This is a composite monument to the Clarke family, located approximately 2 metres east of the South East Chapel of the Church of St. Peter. It dates from around 1758 to 1817 and features a red brick plinth with a plain stone base. The monument is topped by five ridged coffin tombs, each with moulded head and footstones, dedicated to Samuel, Robert, Dorcas, Samuel, and an unidentified Mark Clarke. This monument is an unusual survival in Essex.
