Description
Rook Hall is a house located on Chigborough Road in Little Totham. The front range dates from the early 19th century, while the rear range is from the 16th century or earlier. The building is timber framed and plastered, with red plain tiled roofs and a gabled dormer on the rear range. There are red brick chimney stacks on both the right and left sides of the front range, along with a central chimney stack on the rear range. The house has two storeys and attics, with the front range featuring three small paned vertically sliding sash windows, and the ground floor having windows of three lights. The central entrance has a 20th-century six-panelled door set within a moulded surround, complete with moulded pilasters and dentilled soffits beneath the pediment. Inside the rear wing, notable features include jowled storey posts, one of which has an exposed arch brace, and a very heavy chamfered bridging joist on the ground floor. Rook Hall was one of the two manors of Little Totham.
