Description
Chappel Farmhouse is a house built around 1812, with an earlier rear section dating from the 16th or 17th century. The front range is timber framed and faced with red brick, while the rear range is plastered. It has a hipped roof covered with red plain tiles and features red brick chimney stacks on both sides. The house has two storeys and a cellar, with a three-window range of small paned vertically sliding sash windows. The central window on the first floor has a round head and traceried glazing bars. The main entrance has a six-panelled door with reveal panels, pilasters with capitals and bases, a frieze, and a pediment. The rafters in the attic are dated 1812 or 1816. Inside, there is a notable stick staircase. The rear range includes features such as stop-chamfered bridging joists, halved wall bracing, and jowled storey posts in the frame. There are also some 18th-century doors and a brick floor in the dairy.
