Description

This is a 17th and 18th century timber-framed and plastered cottage known as Thatched Cottage. It features a thatched hip roof and has a modern jettied and gabled thatched extension at the south end. The cottage was originally an open hall, which still shows sooted timbers, and includes an inserted 17th century stack along with reused 13th century top plates that have trait-de-jupiter wedged scarf joints. The windows are modern arched-headed casements.
