Description
Clapgate Farmhouse is an early 17th century farmhouse that features a timber frame with plastering and a pebble dashed brick front on the west elevation, which includes thicker end pilasters. The building has a gabled roof covered with peg tiles and an off-centre ridge line stack from the 19th century. The first floor is fitted with three square double hung sash windows that have small panes. On the ground floor, there are two similar windows beneath segmental arched heads, along with a modern angled bow window under a peg tile pentice roof and a simple entrance door. The structure consists of three bays with a well-framed design, including a cross passage in the central bay, and there are later extensions at the rear.
