Description
Brookend Farmhouse is a cottage dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped by a hipped, nearly pyramid-shaped peg tile roof that features a central ridgeline stack. The building has two storeys and includes a peg tile-roofed lean-to at the west end, which was formerly a shop.
The front of the house has two 20th-century casement windows above a central door that is sheltered by an original lead hipped hood and porch, along with two similar casement windows. The timber frame is a box frame type, lacking jowls, and features halved and bladed scarf joists typical of the baffle-entry style. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace opening into the east room, and one old plank door with four star-shaped ventilator piercings.
