Description

This is an early 17th-century cottage located on Mill Lane in High Ongar. It is timber-framed and originally plastered, now with a red plain tile, half-hipped roof. The cottage has two storeys and a lean-to extension to the front. It follows a small three-bay plan with an additional chimney bay. The front features a three-window range with 20th-century leaded casements, and two gabled dormers have been added. An original red brick chimney stack is present, featuring attached diagonal shafts. The original timber frame remains visible internally.
