Description

Rookery Farmhouse, now divided into two dwellings, is a house dating from the 15th century or earlier, originally a hall house with crosswings, and significantly altered in the 16th century. It is timber framed and has plaster walls, with a red plain tile hipped roof. The house is two storeys high. The original crosswing gables now project outwards. There are four windows across the front, with leaded casements dating from the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The early 19th century features flat, moulded canopies on brackets over the doors. The original wings have gables at the rear. There are 16th-century red brick end wall chimney stacks with diagonal shafts. The site was formerly a moated site.
