Description
Water End Farm Cottage is a cottage that was originally a farmhouse, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with a crosswing and an 18th-century extension to the rear, along with a 19th-century single-storey lean-to on the left. The building features a red plain tiled roof, with the extension clad in slate. It stands two storeys tall, with a 20th-century window in the extension and a 20th-century half-glazed door flanked by sidelights. The first floor of the crosswing has a small paned casement window, and the crosswing itself has hipped angled eaves and a grey slate clad bay window on the right return. A central attached diagonal chimney stack is made of red brick. Inside, there are very heavy stop-chamfered beams that may date from the late 13th century or early 14th century, featuring ovolo mouldings and a brace. The basement of the 18th-century addition was used for cattle.
