Description
The courtyard outbuildings to the northeast of Gaynes House are 19th-century structures built from red brick. The west range, which faces the house, is two stories high and features a raised central block with a hipped roof. Atop this block is a weatherboarded cote with a clock. There are gabled crosswings on both the right and left sides. The facade has a 3:2:3 arrangement of round-headed window and door openings, with the openings on the right and left ranges featuring recessed arches. The round-headed windows, which have glazing bars, likely originate from the 18th-century house. A central band runs along the building. The central block has arches that have been infilled, with 20th-century windows inserted above, and two 20th-century casements above that. The central boarded doors on the right and left ranges have fanlights above them, with three-light windows situated above. To the rear right of this range is a pantiled work building, likely a forge, which has two 12-light windows. The rear left contains a red brick outbuilding, and at the far end of the courtyard stands a tall barn made of brick and weatherboard, featuring central double doors and a hipped red tiled roof with a central weatherboarded raised aisle.
