Description
White Cottage is a row of early 19th century cottages that have been combined into one house, with a 20th-century extension at the west end. The building features roughcast render, likely over brickwork, and is topped with handmade red clay tiles. It is oriented approximately east-west and has two axial chimney stacks. A garage block has been added at the east end in the 20th century. The cottage is two storeys tall and has a boarded door with a diamond-shaped light. On the ground floor, there are five 20th-century casement windows, and on the first floor, there are four. There is a blocked door just west of the west chimney stack, indicating that this was likely originally a block of four cottages, with each chimney stack located in the partition wall between two cottages. It was later converted into two cottages and eventually into one house. The original positions of the extra doors would have been just west of the east chimney stack and just east of the west chimney stack, but these are now occupied by windows.
