Description
Brickwall House is a 16th-century house that has been altered in the 20th century. It features a timber frame, with parts that are plastered and others that are weatherboarded. The roof is covered with handmade red clay tiles, which are mainly plain but include a band of ornamental tiles. The house has a two-storey hall block that is aligned approximately northeast to southwest, with a northwest aspect, and a crosswing at the southwest end. There is a lean-to extension at the northeast end and an axial chimney stack. The entrance includes a six-panel door, with the top two panels glazed, situated under a shallow hood. There are double-hung sash windows with 16 lights, which are either early 19th century or of early 19th-century style; one window is located on each side of the door, three are on the first floor of the hall block, and one is on the first floor of the crosswing. Both roofs are hipped, and the chimney stack features grouped diagonal shafts.
