Description
This is a barn located approximately 10 meters northwest of Cowicks, dating from the early 17th century. It is timber framed, mostly covered in weatherboarding, with some sections plastered, and features a thatched roof. The barn consists of four bays arranged roughly north-south, with a midstrey on the west side. The southern bay was originally separated from the rest and had a storey, but it is now open. The roof is half-hipped at both ends, and it includes straight bracing that is trenched into the inside of heavy studs, along with arched braces supporting the tiebeams. The roof structure features queen struts and clasped purlins. Notably, the wooden threshing floor remains intact, which is an unusual survival.
