Description
The barn at Quickbury Farm is a late 17th-century aisled barn. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded, with a roof primarily covered in handmade red clay tiles, although some areas have slates. The barn consists of seven bays and is oriented approximately east-west, with aisles on both sides that extend around both ends. On the south side, there are two gabled midstreys, while the north side has two high doors topped with catslide roofs. The structure includes jowled posts, straight tiebeams, and arched braces with struts in the spandrels, as well as arched arcade braces. An inscription on one of the tiebeams indicates that it was built in 1687, as recorded by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, although this was covered by timber supporting a platform during an examination in March 1983.
