Description

The Hockings Bakery, along with numbers 121 to 127 on the west side of Ongar High Street, comprises four cottages, now used as shops. The building dates to the 17th and 18th centuries and has a timber-frame structure, now rough-rendered. It has a red plain tiled roof, hipped to the left, with extensions to the rear. The building is two storeys high, with a four-window front featuring 19th-century small-paned double-hung sliding sash windows. Four 20th-century shop fronts are present, with glazed doors and fascias above. A red brick chimney stack is situated off-centre, along with two others at the rear. Group Value: It contributes to the group value of buildings in this location.
