Description
Headgate Court, formerly the Assembly Room of the King's Head Inn, is a building dating from the 16th to 17th century. It is set back from the street in a courtyard and features two storeys, attics, and cellars. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, with tiled roofs. The front, dating from the late 17th century, has a six-window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars, with original glazing in the upper storey. There is a central wooden doorcase with a flat head and fluted pilasters, along with a rectangular fanlight. The base of the chimney stack at the north end is original. A wing on the north side of the courtyard is of the same date. Inside, there are some original ceiling beams and panelling.
