Description

Brook House is a 16th-century house located on Dedham High Street. It is a two-storey building with attics. The house is timber-framed and plastered, with a ridged, gabled, and pegged tiled roof and two red brick chimneys, one inset at the east end. The west gable originally had a jetty, but this has been replaced with brick underbuilding. It features two circular windows in the gable. The west-facing gable has one pair of small-paned sash windows on the first storey, and a square bay window on the ground storey featuring small-paned sashes and a dentilled cornice. A door is set within a case to the right of the wing. The east range has four small-paned sash windows on the first storey, a square bay window on the ground storey with matching sashes and a dentilled cornice, and three matching sashes on the ground storey. A six-panel door is situated on the right of this wing. There is also one flat-roofed dormer window. The building holds group value, indicating its importance to the wider setting.
