Description

The barn east of Fordham Hall, dating from around 1800, is a large, lightly framed structure that is 10 bays long. It features side girthed construction and incorporates older posts and timbers. The barn has tie beams supported by hanging-knees, roof side purlins, and numerous lapped collars. There are two midstreys, both gabled and facing west. The walls are primarily wind braced above and below the girts, and the barn retains its great doors. The roof is ridged and gabled, covered with peg tiles, while the walls are finished with black weatherboarding. Additionally, there is a full-length lean-to on the west side, built with English bonded red brick.
