Description

This is a substantial 16th-century building with later additions dating to around 1700. It is two storeys high with attics, and has four dormers – two gabled and two hipped – with a tiled roof. Cellars are present beneath the building. The upper storey projects across the entire front and is finished with plastered panels. An original carved bracket is located at the east end of this projecting upper storey. The windows are arranged in a six-window range, featuring double-hung sashes with glazing bars within flush cased frames; some of these windows are original. Late 17th-century, wood modillioned eaves and a cornice are present. Ground-floor windows are later 19th-century additions and modern shop windows. A plaster oval wreath, containing initials and the date W 1692, is situated near the middle of the upper storey. Numbers 29, 30, and 32, together with numbers 33 to 41, form a notable group.
