Description
Layer Breton Lodge is an early 19th century house located on Layer Breton Hill, facing south. It is two storeys high and constructed of painted brick, topped with a grey slate hipped roof. The building features a five-window range of vertical sliding double-hung sashes set in gauged arches, accompanied by modern shutters. The entrance boasts a pedimented doorcase with moulded architraves. The house has a square plan and includes red brick internal chimney stacks. The west front displays three original sash windows, and there is a lean-to extension on the west side. On the east side, there is a single-storey late 19th century extension with a flat roof. To the north, there is a truncated two-storey extension with one window range. The property showcases good early 19th century detailing throughout. Additionally, there is an 18th century red brick wall featuring original buttresses and gault brick ridged coping.
