Description

The Congregational Chapel, formerly known as Fordham Congregational Church, dates from around 1789 and is associated with Lady Huntingdon. The chapel features rendered walls and a hipped roof covered with pegtile and leaded hips. The west end has two pairs of three-pane hornless sash windows, each with moulded stucco hoodmoulds. The south wall displays a range of five hornless sash windows with exposed boxes and small panes. An extension at the north end includes two pairs of matching sash windows. Inside, there is a plastered flat ceiling and a coved gallery at the west end, supported by round cast iron stanchions and featuring a panelled rail. Early 19th-century railings enclose the burial ground.
