Description

The Chestnuts is a former hall house located on Boreham Main Road, dating from around 1550, with later additions from approximately 1620 and 1830. The building is finished in stucco and features a main tiled hipped roof that extends to the eaves. It has an L-shaped plan with additional wings at the center rear and stands two storeys tall, with four windows across the front. The entrance is located in the second bay from the right and consists of a square-headed, panelled door. The windows are square-headed and date from the 20th century. Inside, the main frame is exposed, and there are two planked doors from the 17th century, along with a significant amount of 18th-century woodwork, including doors and a corner cupboard, as well as cornicework from the same period.
