Description
Ratcliffes' is a red brick house, likely dating from the 16th century, located on the west side of Writtle Green. The building features a red brick front with a parapet and stands two storeys high. It has four windows arranged in a 2:2 pattern, with double-hung sashes that include glazing bars, all set in painted reveals. The central doorway is topped with a segmental fanlight and flanked by panelled pilasters, supporting an open dentilled pediment on brackets, which is similar to the design found at No 46. The roof is slate and has a treble pitch. This house is part of a group of listed buildings around The Green, which includes Nos 8, 10, 38, 52, and 25, all of which are of local interest.
