Description

The garden wall to the west of numbers 18 and 22 in Great Baddow is a red brick structure dating from the 16th to 17th century. It stands approximately 7 to 8 feet high and extends southward for about 220 yards. At the northern end, the wall features a sloping brick coping, while the southern end contains a 16th-century excavated brick chamber, which is believed to have originally served as a priest's hole connected by a tunnel to the house.
