Description

The Manor House dates primarily to the 18th century, but incorporates elements of an earlier 16th-century timber-framed structure. A gabled wing projects to the south at the west end. The front facade is roughcast, laid out in panels. The main block is two storeys and attics, with a seven-window front, while the west wing has a single window. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars in the upper sashes only, set within flush cased frames. First-floor windows have wood aprons, and ground-floor windows have cornices. There are two pedimented doorcases, one featuring a six-panel door. A carriage way is located at the west end of the main block. The roof is tiled and features an eight-dentil wood eaves cornice and five low-gabled dormers with leaded casements. The Manor House, together with Manor Place, Manor Lodge, Valley Cottages Nos 1, 2 and 3, and No 1 Maldon Road, form a group of buildings of group value.
