Description

Olspar, located at No 27 on Maldon Road in Great Baddow, is a building dating from the 18th century or early 19th century, featuring a plastered front that conceals a late 14th century first-floor hall. The structure is timber-framed and includes a 16th century addition on the east end, as well as a 17th century addition at the rear. The first storey jetties out at the front. The building is two storeys high with a two-window range, showcasing double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The ground storey features two shallow splayed bays and a six-panel door with an architrave. The roof is tiled. Inside, the building has fine moulded ceiling beams. The roof structure includes a cambered tie beam and a crown post with a moulded base and capital. Olspar is part of a group with Nos 27 to 31.
