Description
The Cock Inn is a public house with a red brick front dating from the 18th century, built over an earlier timber-framed structure. It features a wing that extends to the north at the east end and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is two storeys high and has a five-window range, although one window is blocked. The windows are double-hung sashes with single vertical glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. The first-storey windows are fitted with louvred shutters. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century canted bay window at the west end and one 20th-century casement window. The doorways, which are in a period style, feature cornice hoods supported by brackets. The roof is tiled and hipped, topped with a large square chimney stack from the 18th century. The Cock Inn is part of a group that includes No 1 and Nos 2 to 14 (even) Mill Road and the Bear Inn in The Square.
